Tell us about the special album that pays tribute to the late singer/songwriter Danny “Rio” DeGennaro. Titled “For Danny.”
This special tribute album to the late singer/songwriter Danny “Rio” DeGennaro was produced by Edgardo Cintron (myself) and Mike Ian. Danny was a talented musician whose music continues to resonate. Mike and I carefully selected and personalized many of Danny’s recordings with our own Latin sound. The album features notable tracks like “BYE BYE BABY,” which showcases a female vocal rendition. The Latin percussion and lead guitar fills throughout the album create a lively, danceable experience.
One of the standout tracks on the album is “Thinking of You,” tell us about the inspiration.
“Thinking of You” is a standout track inspired by Danny’s deep love for his daughter Gia. The song narrates the longing and connection felt during his touring days, a sentiment many musicians can relate to. Kyle Maack’s lead vocals elevate the new rendition, complemented by Chabub be Chuba’s ad libbed background harmonies. The piano and haunting guitar solos make it a perfect song for a movie soundtrack.
The new song, “CONTACT” has aspirations of earning a Grammy nomination. What makes this song so powerful?
Following the positive feedback from fans and fellow musicians for the “For Danny” album, we decided to record “CONTACT,” which has become wildly successful. With aspirations for a Grammy nomination, this follow-up single leverages the Inca Band’s and my percussion expertise. Plans are underway to bring in a horn section to further enhance the track.
Tell us about your Hollywood aspirations “For Danny” music.
Presently, we are selectively shopping for the perfect fit for songs from the “For Danny” album. The team has been collaborating with artists like Billy Bob Thornton and his band, Boxmasters. Discussions are ongoing for several songs, including “Way To Fast,” which ties into a book about Danny’s life written by John Farmer, Jr.
When is the release party for the new album?
The “FOR DANNY” release party is set for March 2025 at Adelphia in NJ. The musicians, led by Edgardo Cintron (myself) and the great musicians in the Inca Band, continue to perform in the Northeast and are eyeing a residency in Las Vegas.
